Price Increase for US Nintendo Switch Consoles and Accessories Due to Tariff Changes

Beginning next Sunday, August 3rd, Nintendo will increase the prices of its Nintendo Switch console and certain accessories in the United States. According to Nintendo, this adjustment is a response to prevailing market conditions within the country. As this price adjustment is specific to the US market, it appears to be a direct reaction to increased tariff charges resulting from President Trump’s ongoing trade disputes. This interpretation is supported by the fact that Nintendo manufactures its consoles and accessories in China, Japan, and Vietnam—three countries impacted by President Trump’s tariff increases. Discussions surrounding the Switch 2’s console prices, which have circulated since its launch, have also frequently connected them to these tariff concerns. However, these immediate changes will not affect the price of the Switch 2 console. Nintendo has indicated it is keeping its options open for potential future adjustments. Effective next Sunday, the following products will see price increases: Nintendo Switch Lite (Turquoise and Yellow models) Joy-Con (Grey) Joy-Con Charging Grip Nintendo also stated that prices for some other accessories and specific Amiibo figures will rise. Conversely, game titles (both physical and digital) and the Nintendo Online subscription price will remain unchanged.

US Price Hike Impact on Brazilian Nintendo Switch Market Remains Unclear

It is currently unclear whether this price hike will extend to Brazil. However, this remains a possibility, as many importers in Brazil acquire products directly from the United States.
