Atari Strengthens European Presence with Thunderful Acquisition and Expansion of Game Development
Atari has acquired an approximately 82% stake in Thunderful Group for about 4.5 million. This acquisition encompasses Thunderful's five studios, allowing Atari to expand its game development efforts and support over 20 titles, including SteamWorld, Islanders, Lost in Random, and Vampire's Fall. Concurrently, Thunderful is implementing a restructuring plan designed to return the group to profitable growth. Wade Rosen, Atari's CEO, stated in a press release that this deal marks another significant step in Atari's European expansion. He expressed confidence that Thunderful, known for publishing critically acclaimed games, will regain profitability with its transformation plan and skilled teams, thereby further strengthening Atari's presence in the region.
