Silent Hill's Rediscovery: New Projects and Upcoming Titles Unveiled
The Silent Hill franchise is experiencing a significant resurgence, with multiple new projects and games in development. Following the widespread positive reception to the announcement of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, attention is also focused on Silent Hill F, which is slated for release on September 25th next year for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Beyond these anticipated titles, another mysterious game, distinct from the recently announced Silent Hill 1 Remake, is also in the works from Annapurna Interactive and Screen Burn (formerly No Code).
Among these projects is Silent Hill: Townfall, a new installment developed by Screen Burn, previously known as No Code, under the umbrella of Annapurna Interactive. The game remains largely enigmatic, with its developers keeping details about their vision for Silent Hill under wraps. A cryptic trailer was showcased during Konami's 2022 Transmission XXI event, serving as the primary source of information thus far. Development has been underway for almost three years. Screen Burn recently announced a significant milestone: the completion of Act 1 and the commencement of Act 2, which confirms active development progress.
Silent Hill: Townfall - Developers' Ambitious Nightmare Unfolds Amidst Growth and Collaboration
Screen Burn emphasized their commitment to Silent Hill: Townfall, describing it as their most ambitious project to date. The studio detailed its five-year history, which included collaborations with Devolver Digital on titles like Stories Untold and Observation. The opportunity to work on Silent Hill: Townfall arose from a partnership with Annapurna Interactive and Konami. Regarding the project's status, Screen Burn stated, "The team has grown, we started brainstorming during lockdown, and we're still busy creating a spooky nightmare." This direct statement from the developer underscores their ongoing dedication to the project.
