Ex-Superman Tearfully Watched New Film

Brandon Routh Praises James Gunn's 'Superman', Expresses DC Universe Enthusiasm

Brandon Routh, known for portraying Superman in Superman Returns, has expressed significant excitement for James Gunn's Superman. During an interview with Variety's Ick, Routh urged fans to see the film, stating he "had a blast" and "absolutely loved it." Routh praised Gunn's approach, describing it as "refreshing and unique." He elaborated, "It felt different. There was a new perspective." He highlighted a moment of anticipation, remarking, "I couldn't wait to see how Superman would handle his first conversation with Lois and Clark in the apartment." After seeing the film, Routh concluded, "It all came together perfectly. It's a fantastic film. I can't wait to watch it again." Beyond Gunn's specific project, Routh also expressed broader enthusiasm for the DC Universe. He believes that a successful launch, like the one Superman represents, "benefits everyone wanting more from DC." Despite Superman Returns, the film Routh starred in, which many fans consider one of the least successful Superman adaptations, he has consistently remained open to opportunities within DC series and has not turned down a potential return to the role.
