
Following the examples of Nintendo and Capcom, Sega announced plans to open a store in Tokyo, the Sega Store Tokyo.
The first store of the brand will be inaugurated at Parco in Shibuya, where the official Capcom store, a Pokémon Center, and the Nintendo Tokyo are also located.
“Our portfolio is quite extensive, but the common thread is the Sega brand,” said Justin Scaprone, Sega’s head of transmedia strategy. “Sega already has an impressive number of fans as a brand, and we need to cater to these fans by offering them new experiences while proudly showcasing the Sega brand.”
It is indeed exciting, and there is much more we can do in this regard since Sega is a consumer brand that surprisingly lacks sufficient presence among consumers. Yes, Sonic is well-known, but not so much Sega itself.
A second store is also planned to be opened in Shanghai, China, with an unspecified date.
