After several months of teasing and a well-calibrated promotional campaign, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has finally been released for PC, iOS, and Android. This marks the opportunity for Netmarble and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to unveil the launch trailer. Notably, while the game draws visual and narrative elements from the cult series, it does not simply replay existing storylines. Players take on the role of a new protagonist who is an unwitting heir to House Tyr, a humble northern noble house that is an original creation within George R.R. Martin’s mythology. The story unfolds during the War of the Five Kings but focuses on events at its periphery, offering a complementary and peripheral perspective to the main saga.
Three classes are offered: Knight, Fencer, or Assassin, all inspired by archetypal figures from Westeros. Each class features a distinct strategic combat system, as highlighted in the launch trailer released today. One of the most ambitious aspects of the title lies in its portrayal of the Westeros continent. Classics such as King’s Landing, Blackwater Castle, Highgarden, or The Wall are reproduced with a certain level of detail, but the game also explores uncharted territories. The launch content, enriched by the early access period on Steam that began in March last year, expands today with Chapter 3, including the Stormlands, Aclamie, as well as a series of new bosses and characters.
