Game of Thrones Kingsroad: Release Date and New Trailer in the Westeros Universe

The Game of Thrones Kingsroad will officially release on May 21, 2025, for PC and mobile devices (iOS, Android). Developed by Netmarble in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, this action-adventure RPG set in an open world is based on the official HBO license, aiming to immerse players in the Westeros universe. This includes the ability to freely explore iconic locations such as King's Landing, the Eyrie, Castle Black, and The Wall, where players will assume the role of an original character from House Tully, a fictional Northern lineage, and choose between three classes: Knight, Mercenary, or Assassin. The story takes place between seasons 3 and 4 of the TV series, allowing interactions with familiar characters like Jon Snow, Varys, Jaime, and Cersei Lannister.

A new trailer has been released to celebrate this announcement, offering a glimpse into the gameplay and universe of the game. The trailer features a message from Hyunil Jang, the game director, but does not include any gameplay images. It is now possible to purchase a Founders Pack, which provides early access and various exclusive contents. Mobile users can pre-register via the App Store and Google Play Store to receive special rewards at launch. However, it is worth noting that the game's free-to-play economic model has faced criticism, particularly concerning the presence of microtransactions and battle passes, which could potentially impact gameplay balance.
