Parkour in video games has numerous representatives, with the Assassin’s Creed franchise leading significantly. However, a new entrant is poised to make its mark, particularly on consoles, as Rooftops & Alleys The Parkour Game had already established itself on PC last year. Developed independently by Michel Losch, also known as MLMEDIA, and utilizing Unreal Engine 5, the game was released in early access on May 21, 2024, and swiftly gained a devoted community due to its realistic and challenging approach to parkour. Unlike many games where movements are automated, Rooftops & Alleys provides complete player control. Each jump, flip, and landing demands precise execution, rewarding players for their technical skill. The game also includes diverse urban environments with dynamic weather conditions, enabling players to express themselves freely through acrobatic maneuvers.
Developed solo, the game benefits from close collaboration with its community. Player feedback directly influences updates, such as the addition of new acrobatic figures and improved animations for increased fluidity. This participatory approach has contributed to a very positive reception on Steam, characterized by a majority of favorable reviews. Rooftops & Alleys The Parkour Game is scheduled to release on June 17th next year, available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, along with its announcement trailer for these platforms.
