It is February 5th, 2025, the date on which Mai Shiranui becomes available as a DLC character in Street Fighter 6. Capcom communicated well in advance about the arrival of SNK’s kunoichi, who remains as charming, agile, and bouncy as ever. The teams at Capcom have done an incredible job regarding faithfulness, both in terms of appearance and move-set, rekindling interest in her iconic attacks. Additionally, the animations are highly praised for their high quality and detailed nature, making this version of Mai more natural than ever. While players can use Mai in Versus mode, she is also available in World Tour mode. Capcom informs us that other updates accompany the character release.
Street Fighter 6: The renowned FGC competitor and current Street Fighter 6 battle director, Woshige, has just been added as a special V-Rival challenger in the Battle Hub! You can challenge him alongside Luke, Cammy, and Akuma to earn a special emote and a challenger screen illustration!
New Ranks and Rewards in the Master League:
New Ranks: High Master, Grand Master, and Ultimate Master
Rewards from the Master Phase: Players can earn rewards by participating in ranked matches using characters that have achieved the Master rank.
At the beginning of each new phase, the Master Rate will be determined by the player based on their previous phase’s Master Rate. This means that players will be able to match with opponents of similar skill levels more easily from the start of the phase.
Quality of life improvement:
New replay features have been introduced, including the ability to view replays from the most recent match results screen in both ranked and friendly matches. Additionally, players can now pause the game and access the menu during round calls or after a knockout. These enhancements aim to provide a more immersive and convenient experience for all users.
New World Tour updates include immediate verification of information on all Masters in the Master section of the Status menu, as well as tips on “when/where to find” and “how to gain acceptance” from Masters, whether you have met them or not.
New tournament local mode settings have been implemented, including the option to configure the intro/outro screen without interruptions, automatic random stage selection, pausing the menu during extended wait periods, and numerous other enhancements.
A match restoration add-on has been implemented in custom rooms, enabling players to resume interrupted battles by restarting the round at the point of disconnection.
Fighting Pass Mai: Available in February, the “Welcome to May” Fighting Pass allows players to obtain avatar equipment inspired by Mai’s iconic attire for use in the World Tour and Battle Hub. With Mai’s inclusion comes a new Challenger screen effect and the Flame Dragon God music track (Nippon Stage II).
Now that Vega/M. Bison, Terry Bogard, and Mai Shiranui have been revealed, only Elena remains to join the roster of Street Fighter 6 as the latest bonus fighter for the year!
