We are approximately one week away from the release of “Indiana Jones and the Circle of the Ancients,” a highly anticipated title for 2024, set to launch on PC and Xbox Series. Since its announcement, there has been skepticism among players regarding Harrison Ford’s presence in the game, given that he might not appear visually. It is known that the game will feature several cinematics showcasing both Ford’s charisma and Troy Baker’s (in original voice) performance. According to MachineGames, this title represents their most significant project yet. In a recent interview with MinnMax, Axel Torvenius (creative director at MachineGames) and Jens Andersson (design director) answered 141 questions. Among these, they were asked about the game’s length, which they did not specify; however, Axel Torvenius noted that “by far, it’s the most significant and longest game Machine Games has ever made.”
Based on playtime estimates from HowLongToBeat, which lists Wolfenstein: The New Order as the longest game released by MachineGames with a main story completion time of approximately 11.5 hours, it can be inferred that Indiana Jones and the Circle of the Ancients will take at least 12 hours to complete the main story. However, Axel Torvenius clarified that the game includes “about 3h45” of cutscenes, “or something like that. It’s a lot.” So, are we reassured then?
Other interesting elements are discussed in this brief interview, particularly concerning the mechanics that enable Indy to avoid death if he successfully crawls to his hat and retrieves it. Indiana Jones and the Circle of the Ancients will be released on December 8, 2024, with early access available on December 6.
