Since its surprise announcement at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 last month, “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” has generated significant interest, even being featured at the Xbox Preview event. This provided SEGA with an opportunity to unveil a new trailer and to adjust the game’s release date. Initially scheduled for February 28, 2025, the title is now moved forward by one week to launch on February 21. The reason for this change is straightforward: to avoid direct competition with SEGA’s own “Monster Hunter Wilds,” also set for release on February 28 and expected to have a significant impact. Given that the series has become ultra-popular worldwide, with the latest “Monster Hunter World” selling 25 million copies, it makes sense to maintain some distance.
Elsewhere, “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” will allow players to experience Goro Majima as a playable character once again since “Yakuza Zero.” This new trailer offers a preview of naval battles reminiscent of “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag,” where players can command ships through treacherous pirate waters and engage in seamless close combat sequences with an increasingly sophisticated fighting system.
