If Concord turns out to be a significant disappointment for Sony, the Japanese company plans to make amends with another game: Astro Bot. Announced just a few months ago, the title from Team Asobi studios represents one of the most beautiful exclusives for the PS5. Since its reveal, gameplay videos and hands-on previews suggest that Astro Bot has a good chance of being among the most exciting games of 2024. Borrowing heavily from competitors like Super Mario but infusing its own personality, the title led by Nicolas Doucet aims to showcase their expertise in 3D platforming. However, Astro Bot will go beyond its surgically precise gameplay; it also boasts an engaging universe and numerous cameos, as seen in this trailer where one can even become Kratos and wield his axe. The game is known to be filled with PlayStation references, but there are more than a hundred Easter eggs to discover.
In addition to the launch trailer, Team ASOBI also wished to provide some insight into the development process behind their game. The project leaders, including Nicolas Doucet, are present to offer a deeper understanding of the gameplay design, objectives, technical aspects, and their ambitions. Astro Bot’s release is scheduled for September 6, 2024.
