Less than a month after announcing they had sold 2.5 million copies by the end of their fiscal year, Capcom has reported that Dragon's Dogma 2 has surpassed 3 million copies sold worldwide. This announcement is accompanied by an illustration and a message from Hideaki Itsuno, who expresses gratitude to the players for their support. The game received positive critical reception in February last year from the press, while players who had experienced the game firsthand were aware that discussions about teleportations and purely cosmetic microtransactions were largely irrelevant.
