What were merely rumors a few minutes ago has now been officially confirmed by Microsoft: Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will indeed be available on day one through Game Pass, without any additional cost, for both Xbox and PC users. This represents a significant change following the acquisition of Activision by one of the GAFAM companies. However, it does not preclude PlayStation players from purchasing their copy of the game on the same release date. The announcement is not entirely unexpected, given that Sarah Bond, the newly appointed president of Xbox, had previously stated that all Microsoft games, including those developed by Activision, would be available at launch on Game Pass. There were rumors suggesting Microsoft might reconsider this policy, but these have been debunked. It remains to be seen whether the price of the Game Pass subscription will remain unchanged or if an increase is being considered in the coming months.
Other elements that were circulating as rumors and have been confirmed with the first trailer of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 include the storyline of the single-player campaign set during the Gulf War in the early 1990s. Given that the video reveals the presence of political leaders from that time such as George H. W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Saddam Hussein, Bill Clinton, and even Colin Powell, there is no doubt about the game’s setting. The sensitive matter of September 11, 2001, which was still a persistent rumor, could potentially lead to a mission around the World Trade Center.
No release date has been established at this time; however, additional details will be provided during the Xbox Showcase on June 9, 2024. This event can be viewed live through various Xbox FR channels (YouTube and Twitch) starting at 7 PM French time.
