PlatinumGames Loses Its Creative Mind: Founder Hideki Kamiya Departs

Known for his straightforwardness and often offbeat tweets, Hideki Kamiya is set to leave the company he co-founded, PlatinumGames. In an announcement initially posted on the studio's social media, it is stated that Hideki Kamiya will depart from PlatinumGames on October 12th. "We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. We are genuinely grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our inception until now. We are confident he will continue to succeed in his future ventures as a game creator. We look forward to seeing the gaming industry flourish and improve through his efforts. We wish him the best for the future!"

Information confirmed shortly by the individual involved, who explains that the decision was difficult to make. "As announced on the official PlatinumGames X account, I will leave PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. This decision was made after much contemplation based on my own convictions and was in no way an easy decision to take."

Vice president and co-founder of the studio, Hideki Kamiya, will remain the creator of numerous franchises such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry during his time at Capcom, then Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101 while at PlatinumGames. Kamiya's departure is likely to leave a significant void, as he has been leading all of the studio's original creations alongside Atsushi Inaba, who has not commented on the matter. Known for his straightforwardness and often offbeat tweets, Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023, a decision made after much contemplation based on his personal convictions and certainly not an easy one to make. As for his penchant for posting quirky content, this is evident even in a candid moment captured in the restroom with his underwear lowered, which is indeed quite amusing.
