During the Game Awards ceremony, Helldivers 2 received two awards: Best Multiplayer Game and Best Evolving Game. This recognition for one of the most beloved player games, which will celebrate its first anniversary in a few months, was celebrated by Sony Interactive Entertainment and studio Arrowhead with an announcement of a major update to Helldivers 2 during the evening. This update, titled « Omens of Tyranny, » reintroduces well-known enemies from the series: the Illuminati, extraterrestrial beings with great intelligence who wield powerful technology perceived as dark magic by ordinary citizens. These enemies are showcased in the accompanying trailer. Additionally, Sony honored the game by offering a collector’s DualSense controller in the game’s colors, scheduled to release on February 6, 2025, coinciding with the game’s first anniversary. This limited-edition Helldivers 2 controller will be available for pre-order starting December 20, 2024, and will sell at €84.99.
