Red Dead Redemption GOTY Edition Coming to Multiple Platforms in December 2025, Including Netflix Games and Improved Graphics

While fans await the anticipated November 26 release of Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar Games is reviving Red Dead Redemption as a Game of the Year (GOTY) edition. This updated version, which includes the popular Undead Nightmare DLC, is being developed for current consoles and a variety of other platforms. Rockstar Games has announced that the GOTY edition of Red Dead Redemption will launch on December 2, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android. The game will also be available through Netflix Games, though a Netflix subscription will not be required to play it on other platforms. The PlayStation 5 version will be available immediately as part of PlayStation Plus and Grand Theft Auto. The new Red Dead Redemption will feature improved graphics, HDR support, and a consistent 60 fps frame rate. Rockstar is considering a 4K mode for the console release. While the Nintendo Switch 2 version likely will not support 4K, it will offer 60 fps gameplay, HDR, and mouse controls.

Existing owners of the game on PlayStation 4, Switch, or Xbox 360 (via backward compatibility) will receive a free update. Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games are assisting Rockstar with these ports. Rockstar is also developing a mobile version with touchscreen controls for iOS and Android. The GOTY Edition will include the Undead Nightmare expansion and feature modernized versions for consoles, mobile devices, and Netflix, with a focus on enhanced image quality and technical upgrades.
