IO Interactive has released the first trailer for 007 First Light, the much-anticipated James Bond game from the studio.
During the State of Play presentation on Wednesday, the trailer for 007 First Light was shown, revealing a younger Bond at the beginning of his career before he becomes the suave character known for his tuxedo and numerous romantic encounters.
“This is an unprecedented portrayal of Bond: the youngest iteration fans have ever seen. In ‘007 First Light,’ at just 26 years old, he is not the seasoned 007 known for tuxedos and martinis but a man with sharp instincts who can sometimes be reckless. He is still learning when to fight, when to bluff, and when to fade into the shadows,” commented IO Interactive’s community manager, Yann Roskell.
In “007 First Light,” Bond starts his career as part of a naval aircrew. Through an unexpected act of bravery, he is selected for the most rigorous training program at MI6. This intensive training, combined with his natural instincts, cunning, and determination, will shape him into a fully-fledged spy. The game is an original independent story developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.
The trailer provides a glimpse of what players can expect: the opportunity to explore diverse locations around the world, from snowy mountains to sunny beaches. It also features familiar characters associated with the franchise, such as M, Q, and Moneypenny. Additionally, new characters like Greenway will be introduced; he is responsible for instructing (or attempting to instruct) MI6 agents on the proposed methodology for training the young Bond. The game includes intense combat mechanics, dynamic direction, stealth elements, and cutting-edge technological gadgets, allowing players to experience a world of deception and danger rendered using our proprietary Glacier graphics engine.
007 First Light will be released in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. IO Interactive has announced that a detailed gameplay demonstration will be provided in the coming weeks.
