Borderlands 4 Post-Launch Features & DLC Details Revealed

Borderlands 4 will launch with a new Story Pack, seasonal events, and numerous free updates. After completing the main story, players enter the endgame phase. Here, they can progress by tackling weekly challenges, unlocking specializations, and diving into Ultimate Vault Hunter mode. In Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, players can tackle five harder difficulty levels without needing to replay the campaign for further rank progression. Ranking up in this mode grants exclusive Firmware, a gear upgrade that boosts stats as players level up, transferable between items. For additional legendary rewards, Weekly Wildcards are rotating missions. Players can also challenge a tougher version of a weekly boss for superior prizes or replay endgame missions for more opportunities at improved rewards. Post-launch, Borderlands 4 will offer continuous content, starting with a horror-themed seasonal event from October to December, complete with new legendaries and cosmetics. The first paid DLC, Bounty Pack 1, will introduce a new boss, missions, a vehicle, legendary gear, and cosmetics.

Borderlands 4: Mad Ellie & Vault of the Damned Story Pack Unveiled (Jan-Mar ’26)

Substantial post-launch content is scheduled for 2026. From January to March 2026, BL4 will receive the paid DLC Bounty Pack 2, alongside the first of two Story Packs, titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This story DLC introduces a new Kairos region and offers new cosmetics. Following March 2026, BL4 will continue to receive additional paid Bounty Packs, the second story expansion, and new bosses.
