For weeks, PlayStation and Hideo Kojima had been promising an exclusive look at the next trailer for Death Stranding 2. This video was highly anticipated as it was expected to reveal the game’s release date, which it successfully did. Death Stranding 2 On the Beach will now be released exclusively on PS5 (with a PC version in development) on June 26, 2025, timed for the summer season. The new adventure is even more ambitious than its predecessor and marks a significant step forward, as evident from the 10-minute trailer edited by Kojima-san, showcasing notable advancements in visuals, narrative, and gameplay. Sam Porter Bridges, once again portrayed by Norman Reedus, will continue his mission to connect the world through his directives, but the stakes have clearly escalated. The new task involves transporting women in a brain-dead state who are pregnant, presenting a substantial challenge for Neil, a soldier played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, whom Hideo Kojima has been tracking for several years.
Beyond a scenario that has been detailed and follows the events of the first episode, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will offer players the opportunity to explore breathtaking landscapes thanks to the performance capabilities of Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine. The game will also feature greater environmental variety, including diverse biomes such as lush jungles, dusty cities, snowy mountains with avalanches, plains illuminated by northern lights, and even the possibility to reach the rooftop of the world and find oneself above the clouds. There is much to discuss about these 10 minutes, not to mention Hideo Kojima’s apparent nod to his former employer Konami through recreating Solid Snake’s character from Metal Gear with Neil’s character, alongside Heartman’s ability to mentally control a titan equipped with a Metal Gear Rex, which clearly draws parallels to Kaiju battles in the style of Pacific Rim.
Moreover, the eagerly awaited collector’s edition, with pre-orders beginning on March 17th, will include access to two figures: a 38 cm Magellan ship figure and a 9 cm Dollman keychain. The price for this edition is set at 250€, excluding the physical version of the game. Additionally, the trailer’s soundtrack, composed by French artist Woodkid under the title ‘To the Wilder,’ is now available for streaming, providing an outstanding musical experience.
