Until now, Rebellion Studio was known for its Sniper Elite games; however, the British studio has decided to expand its portfolio with the release of its first open-world game. This title is Atomfall, which is set to launch soon. As a result, it presents an opportunity for British developers to explore this new venture further, and today we have been treated to a 13-minute explanatory video. Among the elements showcased in this video is a detailed presentation of its universe, grounded in real historical events and the 1962 nuclear disaster that took place in northern England. Similar to STALKER, players will find themselves navigating a large but confined area where deformed creatures and hostile clans inhabit the radioactive landscape. Consequently, Atomfall offers players the chance to uncover these mysteries of life by interacting with numerous NPCs, discovering documents, and piecing together clues.
The game will also emphasize exploration, featuring a tool that has never been seen in a video game before: the metal detector. This essential object will help players find scarce resources, which are crucial for survival through trading mechanics. Combat is another key aspect of the game, engaged both barehanded and with various weapons, including firearms, a bow, and makeshift tools. Atomfall’s release is eagerly anticipated for March 25, 2025, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and Xbox One.
