February 21, 2025, marks the release of the new Yakuza game, now titled Like a Dragon. In this installment, Goro Majima takes the spotlight after being washed up on a deserted island following a shipwreck and unable to remember even his own name. He sets out across the seas in search of clues to regain his identity, accompanied by Noah, a young man who saved him and owes his life to Majima as a result. The pair soon find themselves entangled in a conflict among fierce criminals, modern-day pirates, and buccaneers vying for control over a legendary treasure. While the plot may seem far-fetched, it serves as a backdrop for naval combat sequences reminiscent of those found in Black Flag. As expected, the game does not shy away from violence, which is evident in the launch trailer that begins with a scene of torture. However, given Majima’s tough persona and resilience, such content is not unexpected.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and SEGA have announced the inclusion of a New Game Plus mode as part of the Day-One patch for their latest game. This feature allows players who complete the initial story to restart from the beginning while retaining their earned money, reputation, and unlocked abilities related to Majima and his crew’s journey after the sea voyage, with only the narrative progression resetting. The update also includes English and Chinese voiceovers, along with standard bug fixes and technical improvements.
