We are one month away from the release of Atomfall, the next game from Rebellion Studios (creators of Sniper Elite), which marks their first open-world game. To achieve this, we have shifted away from the World War II setting and instead offer a fictional universe inspired by real events, focusing on what transpired after the 1962 nuclear disaster at Windscale in northern England. It is within this quarantined zone that players will explore and discover an English countryside still breathtakingly beautiful yet overrun with bizarre creatures and unsavory individuals. The game environment includes picturesque villages, bandit camps, dark caves, crumbling tunnels, and abandoned buildings alongside atomic research installations from the British division, making Atomfall a blend of action, survival, and exploration gameplay. Developers have also introduced an innovative tracing system within the game, featuring a fresh approach to quests. Essentially, all in-game traces are entirely optional but interconnected with the overarching mystery that drives the narrative.
In Atomfall, resources are scarce and money holds no value, leading to all trade being conducted through bartering. Securing favorable deals with traders can be crucial for survival. Players may need food and bandages while others require weapons, which can shift the dynamics of these exchanges. The game also includes a metal detector that is essential for recovering various resources such as scrap metal, medical supplies, or ammunition. Atomfall is scheduled for release on March 25, 2025, and will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and Xbox One.
