Here’s an announcement that came as a surprise but also makes perfect sense, given that the Tokyo Game Show 2024 is just around the corner. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are once again pushing boundaries with a new episode of Yakuza Like a Dragon. The twist for this upcoming release in early 2025 is that Majima Goro will be the main character, having previously shared the spotlight with Kazuma Kiryu in Yakuza 0. What’s unexpected is that players will be engaging (or battling) pirates on the Hawaiian islands. While the setting might not be surprising considering the last Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth took place in a similar environment, it allows developers to reuse assets and save significant time.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will return to real-time combat, which is likely to please players who are tired of turn-based battles. Goro’s abilities are notably more acrobatic, with two combat styles available: Mad Dog and Sea Dog. The Mad Dog style corresponds to the well-known approach of Goro Majima, while Sea Dog allows Cristiano to dress as a pirate, wielding two swords, a chain hook, and firearms. Additionally, players can enjoy the usual mini-games such as Crazy Delivery, Dragon Kart, Minato Girls, and Karaoke for leisure. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on February 28, 2025.
