Scheduled for release on November 20th next year on PC and Xbox Series, STALKER 2 is a project that has encountered significant development challenges. With substantial pressure and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the impact is immediate, particularly when it involves relocating studios and effectively losing some team members who have joined the fight against Putin’s forces. However, GSC Game World remains undeterred, as demonstrated by this 35-minute video. The developers use this opportunity to discuss their game and its production behind the scenes. Artistic Director Mariia Grygorovych, Director Yevhen Grygorovych, World Architect Dzmitry Anoshka, and Cinematics Director Ingwar Dovgoteles each take turns discussing the regions that make up the world of STALKER 2.
There will be a total of 20 individual components, each designed to appear as a complete game on its own. The gameplay is discussed, including a major mission set in hostile swamps. This allows us to see how the mechanics, gunplay, enemy AI, and overall atmosphere come together to create a sense of isolation. Among the elements contributing to this unique atmosphere is a dynamic day-night cycle with real-time changing weather conditions. We look forward to testing all of these features.
