After a challenging end-of-year period during which most of its games received unfavorable reviews and criticism from players, Microids is moving forward and actively preparing for the release of Les Fourmis, its first game developed using Unreal Engine 5. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen images from the game, but today marks the debut of a new trailer with the GDC Trailer suffix indicating that the title will be presented at the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco in the coming days. We recall that players will take on the role of ant number 103,683, determined to guide its colony to safer locations. However, before finding a sanctuary, the entire troop must travel and encounter various predators such as spiders, snails, beetles, birds, and numerous other dangerous enemies.
Although the game draws inspiration from Bernard Werber’s novels, Les Fourmis will be presented as a real-time strategy game featuring genre-specific mechanics such as unit creation, base development, and other elements. However, Microids’ and Tower Five’s title will provide a narrative that allows players to experience the adventures of this colony across various seasons and environments. Additionally, the landscapes within the game will change according to different times of day, including day, night, dawn, and twilight.
The release of the game “Les Fourmis” is anticipated for 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with no old-generation version planned.
