2023 is brimming with amazing games, but when it comes to PlayStation, there’s one title that really has everyone excited: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2! The first game was a huge hit because it captured everything fans love about Spider-Man in an incredible AAA package. With the success of the original, the goal for this sequel is to raise the bar even higher in terms of proposal, gameplay, story depth, stakes, and introducing new characters. We’re just a month away from its release, and we were lucky enough to visit London to play with the latest features ourselves! Here are our thoughts on it—brace yourselves, Spidey fans, because you’re gonna love what’s coming up!
But let’s start at the beginning, specifically with this cinematic that sets a darker tone for this sequel! It seems like their first real meet-up between Parker and Kraven, happening inside a church. This scene reminded us of a moment from the 2007 Spider-Man 3 film where Tobey Maguire gets rid of the symbiote using the same bell too! In our hands-on session, even though the voices in the gameplay video are in English, we had the chance to play with French dubbing. Thanks to one of the PlayStation representatives who was super nice and switched it for us so we could enjoy Donald Reignoux’s work. And let me tell you, just like before, the quality of the dubbing is amazing! It’s clear that Donald took his performance very seriously. We’ll talk more about this in our full review, but after Parker and Kraven face off, we jumped right into a sequence showing Peter’s new powers because of his symbiote infection with Venom. How he got infected? No clue yet! But once you experience Peter’s enhanced abilities, going back to the old ones will be impossible!
Hey there, Spider-Fans! Ready for some super exciting news about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? So, guess what? You can now call upon four totally awesome new powers for our web-slinging hero. Just hold L1 and assign one of those cool buttons—Cross, Circle, Square, or Triangle—and boom, you’ve got yourself a super attack that’ll make quick work of those pesky foes.First up is the Symbiote Blast! Oh wow, this one’s a real crowd-pleaser. Imagine Peter Parker shooting out tentacles from his body to create a wicked sea urchin—talk about style and substance! It looks awesome and feels even better when you use it. Then there’s L1 + Square, where Peter fires off a spray of tentacles from his right arm, zapping enemies and sticking them to objects around him, leaving them hanging in the breeze. But wait, that’s not all! Pressing L1 + Cross lets our hero extend four tentacles to grapple multiple enemies at once and slam their heads into the ground. It’s totally satisfying to see those bad guys get a taste of their own medicine. And hey, if you’re feeling sly, Peter can also use his Symbiote powers to disarm his opponents. To top it all off, L1 + Triangle transforms Peter into the mighty Symbiote Swarm! This ability lets him encase himself or multiple enemies and launch them skyward for some serious crowd control. Can’t wait for you guys to try out these new moves in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, coming out in 2023 on PlayStation, is super duper exciting! Everyone’s talking about how it’s going to blow the socks off of its first game with even better storylines and cool new characters. Imagine this: a heart-pounding showdown between Parker and Kraven right inside a church, which totally reminds us of that awesome symbiote scene in Spider-Man 3. And guess what? The game has amazing French voice acting by Donald Reignoux! The best part is, thanks to the Venom infection, Spidey now has four brand new powers: Symbiote Blast (he shoots tentacles that look like killer sea urchins), Symbiote Grab (electrocuting and freezing bad guys with his arm tentacles), Multi-Tentacle Smash (grappling multiple foes and smashing their heads into the ground), and Symbiote Swarm (wrapping enemies up before hitting them high in the air). It’s going to be an incredible ride! And there’s more! With a little trigger of L3 + R3 when your power gauge is full, under that web bar, Parker can unleash his Symbiote Surge. This Rage mode lets him take out multiple baddies one after another in a totally cinematic way. It’s super fun to see all the new abilities and how they work together!
