Arc System Works revealed new details about Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls at their San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel. Cyclops Phoenix Joins the Roster The first Year 1 DLC character will be Cyclops Phoenix, a version of Scott Summers inspired by the Avengers vs. X-Men comic arc and the Phoenix Five era. This incarnation fuses Cyclops with the Phoenix Force, altering his costume and fighting style. While he will retain his Optic Blasts and melee abilities, the Phoenix Force is expected to introduce new offensive mechanics. Arc System Works plans to share more details on how these cosmic powers will translate into gameplay. Ray Chase, who voiced Cyclops in the X-Men ’97 animated series, will provide the English voice for Phoenix Cyclops. An intro cinematic shows Storm confronting Phoenix Cyclops, urging him to stop his destructive path. The footage concludes with Cyclops on a mission to save mutantkind, but it cuts off before demonstrating his combat abilities. Arc System Works also unveiled the game’s intro cinematic, which features an art direction heavily influenced by Japanese anime from the early 2000s. The studio aimed to capture the energy of those soundtracks while maintaining the spectacular spirit of fighting games. Sanzigen, a studio specializing in 2.5D animation, produced this sequence and the narrative scenes in Episode Mode. Full Character Roster and Team Mechanics The complete roster for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls includes Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Doctor Doom, Storm, Star-Lord, Ghost Rider, Spider-Man, Peni Parker, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Hulk, and Black Panther. The game introduces an automatic team name generation system that considers the chosen characters and Marvel lore, with “Amazing Guardians” being one example. Additional DLC and Costumes Cyclops Phoenix will be the first DLC character. Wolverine and several costumes inspired by Insomniac Games’ productions will also join the game. The “Warrior Renaissance” costume will be available for free starting September 1st. An open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is scheduled for July 24th to 26th on PS5 and PC. Initially announced with 15 playable characters, this trial version will feature an additional fighter, Green Goblin. The Green Goblin is described as a powered-up version of Scott Summers, though other characters express wariness of him even as he maintains control of the Phoenix Force. The intro cinematic and trailer suggest a tragic storyline, possibly involving saving or inheriting power from Jean Grey. Some users encountered technical issues accessing the beta on Steam, requiring a PlayStation Network account for entry. The game officially launches on August 5th.
