Koei Tecmo and Konami are collaborating on Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake, a revamped version of the Japanese horror game Fatal Frame 2, planned for release on a variety of platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a version also rumored for Nintendo’s next console. This remake marks Mio Amakura’s debut as the lead character in a Fatal Frame game, starring alongside her twin sister, Mayu. The updated Camera Obscura in Crimson Butterfly Remake features enhancements designed to improve ghost photography. Players can now utilize focus points to inflict greater damage by highlighting specific areas on spirits. The zoom function enables attacks from a safer distance and allows for capturing specific objects during exploration. Additionally, filters aid players in solving mysteries by adapting to different situations and the ghosts they encounter. The Paraception Filter extends shooting range in combat and allows players to relive past actions through residual memories.

Fatal Frame II x Silent Hill Collaborative Cosplay Update Available Now

In a crossover with Konami’s Silent Hill f, a free downloadable content (DLC) update allows players to dress Mio Amakura in Shimizu Hinako’s outfit, complete with the Fox Mask, maintaining the distinctive aesthetic of the Silent Hill series. This cosmetic is applicable to either Mio or Mayu Amakura. For those interested in experiencing both titles, a Steam bundle is currently available that includes Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake and Silent Hill f at a 10% discount.
