Niantic has revealed details for the upcoming Pokémon GO season, “Memories in Motion,” which begins March 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time. This season introduces changes to daily gameplay and Shiny Pokémon encounters. The Memories in Motion season runs through June 2, 2026. One significant change is the Daily Discoveries system. This calendar-based system provides daily bonuses such as bonus Stardust and extended Lure Module durations. Niantic aims to move away from paid event passes by implementing a more regular, player-friendly format with the Daily Discoveries system. Themed bonuses will occur each day of the week: Sundays: Increased Incense and Lure Module duration. Mondays: Appearances from Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle during the Memories in Motion event, along with Gigantamax Pikachu. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: Rotating Showcases, Raid Hours, and extra Stardust. Alongside the Daily Discoveries system, the free Special Research story “Pressure Rising” becomes available on March 3, 2026, offering an encounter with the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion. Several changes affect Shiny Pokémon encounters during the Memories in Motion season:

Evolved Wild Shinies and Boosted Raids – Memories in Motion Season Revamp for Shiny Pokémon Hunters

Evolved Wild Pokémon: Any evolved Pokémon found in the wild can now be Shiny, provided its Shiny form is already available in the game. Previously, players generally had to catch the base form to obtain a Shiny evolved form. Improved Raid and Egg Encounters: The chances of finding Shiny Pokémon during Raids and when hatching Eggs will be increased compared to regular wild encounters. These odds are not yet known. Shadow Pokémon: Shadow Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket now have a chance of being Shiny if that specific Pokémon’s Shiny form has already debuted. This applies to battles against Team GO Rocket leaders and Giovanni, which also feature boosted Shiny odds. Furthermore, Niantic is revamping events using GO Passes and focusing on “Max Battles” with Dynamax Pokémon rotations and Power Spot replenishment. A new GO Pass, themed stickers, and seasonal adjustments to Research Breakthrough encounters and the Egg pool are also part of the Memories in Motion season. Pokémon like Gyarados, Honedge, Dhelmise, Sinistea, Duraludon, and Dreepy may appear as Research Breakthrough encounters, potentially as Shiny Pokémon. These changes are likely to be significant for dedicated Shiny hunters.
