According to a report by 404 Media, the Grok chatbot from xAI publicly exposed the personal information of adult film actress Siri Dahl this month, including her full legal name and date of birth. Criminals have since created Facebook accounts in her name and posted stolen pornographic videos using her real name on OnlyFans content leak websites. Dahl, who has used the stage name “Siri Dahl” since beginning her career in 2012, expressed to 404 Media her desire to regain control of her identity and requested that the report highlight her efforts to do so. The incident has raised concerns about privacy vulnerabilities associated with Grok, particularly given its close ties to X (formerly Twitter). Organizations like NIST recommend continuous red-teaming to address privacy issues, emphasizing that the focus should extend beyond merely detecting toxic language. Researchers, including Nicholas Carlini and his teams, have demonstrated that Personally Identifiable Information (PII) can be extracted from AI models even through seemingly harmless prompts. Grok had previously drawn criticism from researchers for generating explicit images without consent and providing offensive responses to historical or political queries.
