MicroProse Announces TFC2: Collapse of the Bronze Age, a Narrative RTS Sequel Set During a World on the Brink of Collapse

MicroProse has officially announced The Fertile Crescent 2: Collapse of the Bronze Age, a narrative-focused real-time strategy sequel to The Fertile Crescent. Developed by Wield Interactive and published by MicroProse, the game is slated for release in 2023 for PC. The game plunges players into the tumultuous late Bronze Age, a period marked by widespread societal breakdown. As a leader of a small group of survivors, the objective is not to build an empire but to maintain unity and survival amidst widespread chaos, burning cities, and failing trade routes. Players will command historically inspired factions, including the Assyrians, Egyptians, Babylonians, and Hittites, each with unique units and gameplay styles. The Fertile Crescent 2 expands on the original game by incorporating a narrative-driven campaign and deeper gameplay systems. This campaign centers on a group of characters navigating the consequences of a decaying world, facing challenges such as droughts, famine, social unrest, and the arrival of enigmatic seafaring peoples. Survival hinges on resource management, settlement building, and tactical combat, with food playing a crucial role in sustaining the population, supporting armies, and driving progress. The game emphasizes that poor management can quickly lead to collapse.

Fertile Crescent 2: Tactical Combat & Custom Scenarios with Multiplayer

In addition to the campaign, The Fertile Crescent 2 will feature skirmish modes and multiplayer with dedicated servers. Tools for creating and sharing custom scenarios will also be available. The combat is described as tactical and real-time, with distinct units and strategies for each faction. Wield Interactive, founded in 2021, is an independent studio specializing in strategy game development. MicroProse continues to develop both classic remakes and new titles for future generations.
