Io Interactive has delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light until the end of the Northern Hemisphere summer (August or September). According to a statement published on X, the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions will still launch on May 27, as originally planned. The game was previously delayed from March to May on all platforms. At that time, Io Interactive CEO and game director Hakan Abrak stated that 007 First Light is the studio’s most ambitious project. He added, “The team has fully dedicated themselves to delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience, featuring exhilarating action, world travels, espionage, gadgets, car chases, and much more.” The reasons for the delay remain unknown. However, Io Interactive explained that, as an independent developer and publisher, the initial delay would allow them to ensure the game meets players’ quality expectations from day one. Now, this second delay pushes the Switch 2 release back to after May 27, 2026. Some speculate that Capcom’s upcoming game could raise performance standards for the console, prompting other developers to avoid releasing low-quality ports.
