Mourning Brazil’s Prolific Voice Actor Luis Franke, Star Wars Dub Legend and Telenovela Icon

Brazilian voice actor Luis Franke has died at the age of 66. His daughter, Luisa Franke, announced the news on social media, writing, “With a completely broken heart, I share this news. You were the best father in the world.” Franke was celebrated for his acting career, including roles such as Don Pepe in the telenovela Passione and Nicolau in O Tempo e o Vento. He also lent his voice to Darth Sidious in the Brazilian dub of Star Wars, Dul’Mephistos in Diablo IV, and characters in games like God of War: Ascension, Helldivers, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Warcraft III, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, and Star Wars: Battlefront. According to various reports, one of Franke’s final projects was the 2023 film Anita, about Anita Garibaldi, directed by Guilherme Suman. His daughter’s social media post indicated that Luis Franke passed away on April 4, 2026, at 6:39 PM. His funeral and cremation were held at the Angelus Memorial and Crematory in Porto Alegre on Saturday afternoon (Omelete and Metropoles). The cause of death has not been disclosed.
