Jack Black Eyes Yakuza Role After Super Mario Bros., Minecraft, and Borderlands

Fresh off his roles as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Steve in the upcoming Minecraft film, and Claptrap in Borderlands, Jack Black has his sights set on another franchise: Yakuza. In a recent interview with ScreenRant promoting The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Black stated his desire to appear in a live-action Yakuza film adaptation and directly appealed to Sega for a role. “Therefore, I will present my availability,” he said. “I don’t know if there are roles for me, as a corpulent American, but talk to me. Sega, call me.” Black clarified that he isn’t aiming to play protagonist Kazuma Kiryu but hopes Sega can find a suitable part for him in a potential adaptation of Like a Dragon: Yakuza. Fans have previously suggested Black for roles in the Yakuza universe. Black’s interest in the franchise may signal a new direction for the actor as he considers joining this established series.
