According to serial leaker Billbil-kun, Lords of the Fallen will be one of April’s free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The 2023 title, a Soulslike successor to the 2014 game of the same name, functions as both a reboot and a spiritual sequel. Developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games, Lords of the Fallen reimagines the original’s lore while transporting players to the dark realm of Mournstead, a thousand years after the demon god Adyr’s defeat. A key feature of the 2023 release is its parallel-realities mechanic: Axiom, the world of the living, and Umbral, the world of the dead. Using a magical lantern, players can shift between these dimensions to solve environmental puzzles, access secret areas, or gain a second chance after death, adding a new layer of strategic gameplay to the Soulslike formula. Lords of the Fallen utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to create detailed gothic landscapes and an oppressive atmosphere. Players control Harkyn, battling enemies with melee combat and magic, and can experience multiple endings and a New Game Plus mode.
