Pokemon GO: Pikachu Gigamax Arrives in the Game This Week

This week, Pokémon GO announced the arrival of Gigantamax Pikachu, offering a new challenge in Max Raid Battles starting this weekend. Trainers can battle and potentially catch this giant Pikachu—known among fans as “Chonkachu”—and may even encounter its Shiny version, which cannot evolve further. For the first time, Gigantamax Pikachu will be available in these challenging raids of six-star rank. A $4.99 event ticket offers Timed Research, complete with Max Mushrooms, XP, Max Particles, and extra Max Battle XP. Gigantamax Pikachu will appear on Saturday, March 28, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM in six-star Max Raid Battles. Trainers can team up with friends to challenge this Pokémon and try to catch it, including its Shiny form. In addition to the Gigantamax Pikachu challenge, trainers can enjoy bonus events from March 27 to 28, including an increased Max Particle collection limit, more frequent energy updates (energy updates are eight times more frequent, yielding more Max Particle points), and up to three special exchanges daily. On March 28, trainers can also gather twice as many Max Particles while searching for Gigantamax Pikachu.

Local communities will be organizing mini-events to catch this giant version of Pikachu, which will be a difficult opponent. It is recommended to join other regional trainers to face Pokémon’s most famous figure in its newest and mightiest form.
