Marvel Removes Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws

Marvel Comics has announced a new challenge for Wolverine, one that will see the iconic mutant lose his adamantium claws. According to Marvel, Wolverine #21 and #22, due out in June, will depict Wolverine undergoing a brutal ordeal in which his adamantium claws unexpectedly retract. Written by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Julius Ohta, the story follows Wolverine and Nightcrawler on a perilous journey. Wolverine #21 describes Wolverine being beaten to the bone and his adamantium claws destroyed, leaving him severely beaten but more dangerous than ever. In other Wolverine news, the Ultimate Wolverine series will conclude on April 15 with issue #16. This comic, which follows Logan’s adventures in Marvel’s Ultimate Continuity (Earth-6160), depicts him as a freedom fighter attempting to overthrow the Rasputin family’s rule over Russia. In this continuity, Colossus, Mikhail, and Omega Red are all dead. Marvel promises an epic, devastating showdown with Magik in Limbo, necessitating a major sacrifice to escape Illyana’s realm of dark magic.
