Zach Cregger, director of the upcoming Resident Evil film, is a dedicated fan of Capcom’s series. In a recent interview with Deadline’s Destiny Jackson, Cregger mentioned that he enjoyed Resident Evil: Requiem so much that he played it twice, completing it both times. Cregger also revealed that he did not finish Resident Evil: Village because he found it too scary, abandoning Ethan’s journey halfway through. While many fans consider Resident Evil 7 the scariest installment, Cregger believes that title belongs to Village. Interestingly, Hideki Kamiya, who has also worked on the Resident Evil series, shares a similar sentiment about the franchise, finding Resident Evil: Requiem quite frightening. Kamiya even suggested that Capcom add a “non-scary mode” for players who “want to have fun solving the puzzles.” In related news, the film Resident Evil: Extinction quickly reached a sales milestone of six million copies in just 17 days, making it the fastest in the series to achieve this goal. The 2026 Oscars also celebrated several achievements in film, independent of the Resident Evil franchise: One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Bob and Chase Infiniti as Willa, won Best Picture. KPop Demon Hunters also received multiple awards.
