World of Warships and Sabaton Take the Stage for New Collaboration “Yamato

World of Warships and the heavy metal band Sabaton have reunited for a collaboration featuring a new song, “Yamato,” inspired by the legendary Japanese battleship. This follows their successful 2019 single, “Bismarck,” and promises a high-octane fusion of naval history and metal music. “We always had plans to continue the story that started with ‘Bismarck,’ and fans have been requesting a ‘Yamato’ song for ages,” said Christian Bergmann, Deputy Publishing Director at Wargaming. “When Tommy [Johansson] was composing it, we knew we’d hit the jackpot.” Bergmann added that this wasn’t their first collaboration with World of Warships and that it felt natural to continue the partnership. Sabaton’s frontman, Joakim Brodén, is stepping into World of Warships as Commander Brodén, bringing along bassist Pär Sundström, who voiced the in-game character. When Commander Brodén is at the helm, the standard battle music will be replaced by heavy metal tracks—specifically when commanding the Yamato or Bismarck.

From March 13 to April 16, players can delve into the in-game “Legend of Sabaton” collection, exploring the band’s history through standard and premium containers. Completing the collection unlocks the “Crowned in Smoke and Flame” camouflage for the Yamato, five “Metal Flames” camouflages, and a permanent Commander Brodén. Special packages will also include the “Into the Fire” effect, commemorative flags, and a Sabaton emblem. The music video for “Yamato” is now available on YouTube. Fans can also tune into a themed broadcast featuring a special guest for a chance to win tickets to a Sabaton show and other in-game goodies. On March 13, at 2 PM Brasilia time, Pär Sundström will appear on a World of Warships live stream on Twitch, YouTube, and X, offering viewers the chance to win exclusive freebies, including in-game content and concert tickets. From March 13 to March 17, 2026, Sabaton’s music will be available in World of Warships: Blitz, and from March 30 to May 4 for Legends players. World of Tanks players can access the Primo Victoria and Spirit Of War tanks between March 17 and 30.

In addition to the Sabaton content, Game Update 15.2 introduces the Battle of Cape Matapan Event Pass, a tribute to the historical naval engagement between Britain and Italy. Furthermore, the Arctic Convoy, Tokyo Express, and Pacific Offensive operations, originally released in 2025, are now permanently available. The update also includes adjustments to carrier mechanics, balancing changes to the Okinawa map, the start of a new Clan Battles season, and continued Lunar New Year celebrations.
