California Highway Patrol officers approached Spears, and she was booked at the station around 3 AM. Authorities released her a few hours later, around 6 AM. Spears also has a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who has been harassing her online since 2013 and has appeared at her home uninvited. This week, Spears’s Instagram page appears to have been inactive. Her representative, Cade Hudson, called the arrest “unfortunate” and stated that Spears would comply with legal requirements while seeking help during this situation. He added that her sons are supporting her, and her family is developing a plan for her well-being. The California Highway Patrol apprehended Spears after receiving reports of her driving erratically at high speed. Authorities suspected Spears was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and a chemical test is pending. She is scheduled to appear in court there on May 4, 2026.
