The dataminer also found that the emulator used to present Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen includes identification and recognition of hacks for the Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald ROMs. This discovery has fueled speculation that The Pokémon Company may release these classic Game Boy Advance titles on the Nintendo Switch, a move some fans have long anticipated. Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire debuted on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, preceding Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen as the start of the third generation of Pokémon games. While a datamine from Yakumono suggests Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could potentially come to the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has not yet confirmed such plans. Notably, the emulator used for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on the Switch is the same one Nintendo uses in the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy Advance Classics app, allowing Nintendo to collect substantial data about player activity within these games.
