Following the conclusion of Stranger Things, Winona Ryder will join the cast of Netflix’s Wednesday for its third season. Netflix confirmed that Ryder, known for her role as Joyce Byers, will appear in the series, with production already underway in Ireland. Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar stated in a press release, “When it comes to outcasts, Winona Ryder is the greatest of all time. Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters. We loved collaborating with her in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to Nevermore.” Ryder’s transition to Nevermore Academy aligns with her history of roles in dark, gothic films such as Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. Wednesday reunites Ryder with director Tim Burton and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega. She will play Tabitha in a recurring guest role with a significant presence in multiple episodes; Netflix has not revealed further details about the character. In addition to Ryder, Eva Green will join the cast as Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’s eccentric sister, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.
