Ubisoft is entrusting the Assassin’s Creed franchise to three series veterans following the departure of Marc-Alexis Cote, who has since filed a lawsuit against Ubisoft, alleging he was prematurely replaced in early 2025 by Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot as leaders of Vantage Studios. Martin Schelling, formerly Ubisoft’s Chief Production Officer and creative leader for Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla, now heads the Assassin’s Creed franchise overall. Jean Guesdon, previously creative director for Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, takes over as Head of Content. Rounding out the trio is Francois de Billy, who served as production director for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Origins, as the new Head of Production Excellence. All three will begin their new roles in the coming weeks. Vantage Studios, a company founded by Ubisoft and Tencent, expressed strong confidence in the trio’s ability to lead the Assassin’s Creed series, emphasizing their deep familiarity with the production processes required for ambitious open-world action-adventure games. The company further noted that Guesdon and de Billy have previously collaborated on multiple Assassin’s Creed titles.
