Pokemon EUIC Have Become a Massive Event

Tord Reklev, a celebrated figure in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), attended the 2026 Pokémon European International Championships (EUIC), the second of three major international events organized by The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) for Pokémon VGC, TCG, GO, and UNITE. This eighth EUIC event used VGC Regulation Set F and featured open team lists. Reklev commented on the vibrant state of the Pokémon TCG and the growth of tournaments over the past 20 years, observing that these events have evolved into large-scale spectacles. He noted, “Coming to these events is a whole different experience from when I started, both for better and for worse. The production value nowadays is astonishing. There used to be no cameras or just one pointed at the table. Now, they’re all huge spectacles, right? More like you’re going to an event than a tournament, with so many things happening around you. So, that’s pretty cool.” While acknowledging that the current scale has diminished some of the intimacy of earlier tournaments, Reklev believes the overall experience has become very positive.

Pokémon EUIC 2026 in London: Record-Breaking Tournament and Merchandise Extravaganza

During the 2026 EUIC, representatives from The Pokémon Company discussed the logistical challenges of organizing such large-scale events, which set attendance records this year. Attendees could also visit the Pokémon Center, which offered photo opportunities and merchandise, including pins, tees, playmats, backpacks, and plushies. Upon entering the shop (while supplies lasted), visitors received an EBT. Select card packs were available to win through a raffle. The main hall at the Pokémon EUIC featured activities near the entrance, with a large stage divided into three sections for Pokémon GO PvP battles, card battles, and Scarlet & Violet matches. Smaller stages hosted qualifying matches.
