1993’s Sega Classic Prize Fighter Reborn as Heavyweight Edition in 4K

Sega’s Prize Fighter, a full-motion video game originally released in 1993 for the Mega CD, is being remade as Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition. The original Prize Fighter was notable for its use of full-motion video, a technique that Screaming Villains is now leveraging to rebuild the game from the ground up in 4K. This is not a port, but a complete reimagining. In Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition, players will step into the ring as a boxer, fighting their way through three matches to become champion. The game is scheduled to launch on February 20, 2026, for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Details regarding releases on other platforms, or enhancements for the PlayStation 5 Pro, are not yet available.
