Return to Silent Hill premiered in Portugal on January 29th, while the live-action remake of Silent Hill 2 is already available in the US, China, and other regions. Initial reports suggest the remake nearly recouped its production costs during its opening weekend. In the US, Return to Silent Hill earned $3.2 million, significantly less than the $8 million earned by the second film and the $20 million earned by the original. Its US performance was impacted by severe weather conditions. The film has performed well considering its budget, earning $16.1 million in international markets like China, bringing its total to $19.3 million against a $23 million budget.
