New Horizons 3.0 Unveils Island Expansion, Collaborations, and More on Switch (January 14)

The free version 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrived earlier than expected, becoming available for download on the Switch on January 14 instead of the originally scheduled January 15. While official patch notes are not yet available, the update introduces several sought-after features: A new hotel resort managed by the Kappn family. The return of Resetti and his Reset Service, which allows players to quickly reset their island. The ability to construct multiple items at once. Slumber Islands, where villagers can rest. Island Speciality Requests. New collaborations with LEGO and The Legend of Zelda amiibo. A new scheme from Tom Nook to help players earn more Bells. Players may need to manually update the software via the Switch menu. Notably, exclusive content will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, including mouse controls for island building and a resolution boost to 1080p in handheld mode. The Switch 2 version also introduces a resort decoration feature and a creative mode on Slumber Island, enabling players to decorate without resource limitations. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition was announced during last year’s Nintendo Direct.
