Hellblade 3 Enhances Gameplay, Ditches Interactive Movie Format

Ninja Theory is developing Hellblade 3 to address criticisms of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Despite praise for its graphics, sound design, and performances, some considered the second installment more of an interactive movie than a game. Jez Corden of Windows Central mentioned this on a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast. According to Corden, Hellblade 3 will emphasize gameplay more than Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, which was primarily story-driven with light puzzle and combat elements. Ninja Theory aims to make the third installment more interactive than its predecessors, making it more engaging for a larger player base by introducing more robust gameplay mechanics. Corden also stated that Project Mara, a game concept exploring terrors born from the human mind within an apartment complex setting, never progressed beyond the conceptual stage at Ninja Theory and is not currently in active development. With Project Mara shelved, the studio is focusing on Hellblade 3; Corden suggested that Project Mara might never be released.
