Free Trial for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Now Available Across Three Regions on Nintendo Switch 2 and More

The year 2026 promises a wealth of major releases for the Nintendo Switch 2, including both exclusive titles—some still under wraps—and multiplatform games such as Resident Evil 9 Requiem. A demo for one of February’s biggest games is already available to try for free, with no preconditions. Another major Japanese franchise, Dragon Quest, is also preparing to make its return in February with Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. The full game is expected to launch on February 3, but starting January 7, 2026, a free trial will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Progress from the trial will carry over to the full game upon purchase. Players can also view a short introductory movie to experience the game’s atmosphere before playing. Like previous installments, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined features completely overhauled graphics and a reimagined artistic direction that highlights Akira Toriyama’s character designs, transforming the game into a living diorama. While retaining its iconic story, characters, and gameplay, this remake includes numerous optimizations, modern improvements, and new features, such as vocation privileges that allow for greater customization of abilities. The free trial is available across Europe, North America, and Japan.
